LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 10, 2014) — The University of Kentucky's “Green Dot” violence-prevention program is effective in reducing sexual violence, according to preliminary findings from a five-year study evaluating the program in Kentucky high schools. To that end the Air Force is in the process of implementing a comprehensive sexual assault prevention strategy (signed in 2015) that uses a strategic data-driven approach to prevention. Sexual Assault is criminal conduct that falls well short of the standards America expects of its men and women in uniform and is a violation of our Air Force Core Values. Sexual Assault is defined as intentional sexual conduct, characterized by use of force, physical threat or abuse of authority or when the victim does not or cannot consent. Green Dot has also been utilized within the United States Air Force, Department of Defense, Oregon Tradeswomen, Department of Justice Office on Violence against Women Campus program, and has also made its way into the hospitality industry to develop a front-line prevention force at restaurants, bars, and other similar venues.
