Walter Sanford (1909 – 1987), a former Chicago native and resident, is remembered as one of the country`s greatest African American artists who created works in the abstract expressionist, cubist and impressionistic styles. Coined as the “Black Picasso” Sanford’s works hang in hundreds of private collections and galleries in Europe and the United States. Minor blemishes consist of minimal loss, grime, stain en verso and slight bending of the board. These do not significantly detract from the work. Work estimated to be created in January 1967.
